MediaDB / «What the Bible says about the end times" John Paulin: download fb2, read online
About the book: 1999 / Throughout. the history of the Adventist Church is numerous; more than twenty attempts to establish the date of the Second Coming of Christ. It all started with the fact that on October 22, 1844, Jesus was supposed to return to earth. Then came 1845. Christ never came. Should He have come in 1851 or 1894? The last dates were 1917, and then they spoke of 1928, 1938 and 1964. More recently, some of God's people, counting the jubilee years, came to the conclusion that Christ would return in 1987. Other calculations led to the year 1991. Some have argued that “Day X” will fall in the year 1994, 1996 or 1998. And still many are trying to calculate the date of the Second Coming based on seven periods of 1000 years each. But the year 2000 is still coming. So what does the Bible say about the end of the world, the end time and the Second Coming? Are we really living in the end times? And if so, then how should we live in this world; without turning into either fanatics or the “sleeping virgins” from Christ’s parable? On what basis should one calculate the date of the Second Coming and should it be done at all? Starting with the Book of Genesis, Dr. Paulinus traces the development of biblical eschatology from the time of Abraham to the prophets, shows how people who lived in the intertestamental period saw this issue, and, finally, what do the people of the New Testament think about this - Jesus, Paul, Peter, and also John, who wrote Revelation. The author offers a new, unconventional approach to interpreting the symbolism of Revelation, based solely on the principle of "Sola Scriptura". Written in an engaging and uncomplicated language, this book is nevertheless more a textbook on biblical eschatology than just a Christian book. John Paulin received his Ph.D. from the University Andrews, Michigan, USA, where he currently teaches. His main specialization was the books of the Apostle John. He completed his doctoral dissertation on the interpretation of the seven trumpets of the Book of Revelation. Today, Dr. Paulin is an internationally recognized expert in the field of biblical eschatology and missiology. He is the author of several books and articles, including monographs in the DARCOM Series. In the modern world, whoever talks about the end of the world! They are afraid of the year 2000, and an environmental disaster, and a nuclear war... The author, in a calm and thoughtful manner, shows what the Bible says about this, destroying people’s misconceptions. The book is based on a detailed study of the Book of Revelation and therefore can serve as a textbook on biblical eschatology .For students of Revelation and eschatology, and anyone interested in the “end of the world”».
