First, as a lighthouse master in distant Zurbagan, at the main crossroads of the mysterious Fairways, and then to become the keeper of one of the countless lighthouses along which ships traveling between worlds lay their routes. But will he agree? Life, at the very least, is lived. Years, illnesses, unfulfilled hopes lie on one’s shoulders like a heavy burden, preventing one from raising one’s eyes to the sky, taking a deep breath of sea air, or setting foot on unknown paths in one’s sixties. An old friend who calls him to leave the familiar, comfortable reality - younger by three decades, and knows nothing about what he has gone through over the years.
