About the book: 2018 / For the first time published in Russian, the translation of the main work of the outstanding religious thinker Gerhard Terstegen (1697–1769) "The Path of Truth" is a collection of his own selections texts that cover his entire creative life (from 1726 to 1768) and most comprehensively represent his views. A compatriot and contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach, Terstegen, like him, became a kind of “finisher” of the spiritual era of the early Reformation, giving in himself a magnificent and highest example of what it was capable of. A clear presentation of the doctrine of the inner spiritual life; non-denominationalism, which allows a person of any Christian denomination, standing at any level of church life, to apply this teaching to himself; instructions about the love of God and following Christ, a detailed disclosure of what “asceticism of faith” is - all this (like many other things) should not only be interesting to the modern reader, but may well become an effective guide for him on how to go the right way the narrow and cramped path of Christian life.
