About the book: year / How do different cities and countries celebrate Victory Day? And what role do Soviet military monuments play in this holiday? In the book, these questions are answered by researchers who conducted observations and interviews simultaneously on May 9, 2013 in different parts of the post-Soviet space and beyond - from Sortavala to Sofia and from Grozny to Berlin. The study documented the traditions of celebrating May 9 at the time preceding the Crimean crisis and the conflict in south-eastern Ukraine. The original articles are supplemented by postscripts from the authors, in which they talk about how the situation has changed seven years later.
