About the book: 2013 / The folklore of the peoples of Asia was one of the main themes in the work of Nikolai Kochergin. In the 1950s, collections of Indian, Mongolian, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean fairy tales illustrated by him were published one after another. In these collections, each fairy tale had opening and ending illustrations made with a pen (more often in combination with highlighting with a brush); for individual fairy tales, full-page illustrations in two colors were made. Separately in the oriental cycle of N. Kochergin there are three books, where, while maintaining this style of illustration full-page drawings are made in color: “Tales of India”, “Grandfather Stone Head”, “In the Jungle of Burma”, containing Indian, Chinese and Burmese tales, respectively. Each of these books had only one edition, and the last two were in Ukrainian. These books made up this three-volume set. The second volume includes fairy tales from China. Retold for children by Man Kiu. Illustrations by Nikolai Kochergin. For children of middle school age.
