It was a strange disappearance, very incomprehensible: he disappeared in front of several dumbfounded colleagues, and, moreover, leaving neatly laid out uniforms, including underwear, on the concrete floor of the hangar. And the return appearance of Mort Clayton in the same place after some time was also completely inexplicable, as was his unconscious state with incoherent muttering about some kind of “yellow sand” and “endless sea.” But neither Major Tyler nor all the other eyewitnesses of this incident could even imagine that this was only the beginning of a certain chain of strange and terrible events.
