About the book: 2009 / George Sand (1804–1876) is the pseudonym of the French writer Aurora Dupin-Dudevent, whose work was inspired by sincere ideas of the struggle against social injustice, for freedom and human happiness. In her numerous novels and stories, the ideas of personal liberation (female emancipation, sympathy for the morally and socially humiliated) are combined with the psychological recreation of ideally elevated characters and love conflicts. The guiding thread in art for George Sand was the principle of expediency, the good, to which one must go with a full understanding of reality, with the consciousness of one’s rightness, with self-denial and self-forgetfulness. This volume presents the luxurious fairy tales of George Sand, full of miracles and magic, which she wrote for his granddaughters: Aurora and Gabriela.
