    About the book: 1959 / The book "Soldiers Without Uniform" is a documentary fictional narrative about the glorious military deeds of the so-called gapists - urban partisans of Italy during the anti-fascist Resistance movement in 1943–1945 Through numerous combat episodes and carefully prepared operations, the book reveals the essence of the struggle of the Italian people against the Nazi occupiers and their lackeys - local Italian fascists, a struggle that, under the leadership of the Italian Communist Party, culminated in a victorious popular uprising in Northern Italy in April 1945 and the self-liberation of this most important parts of the country. The author of the book, Italian communist Giovanni Pesce, went through a harsh school of anti-fascist struggle: first as part of the international brigades in Spain in 1936–1939. (later D. Pesce wrote the book “Garibaldian in Spain”), then in fascist concentration camps and prisons and finally in the national liberation movement in Italy. D. Pesce was one of the first organizers and leaders of gapists in the two largest cities of Italy - in Turin and then in Milan. For his leadership of the struggle of the Gapists, for his unparalleled courage, D. Pesce was awarded the highest national award in Italy - the “Gold Medal for Military Valor.” Currently, D. Pesce is an active fighter for the cause of peace and social progress of his country. The book “Soldiers Without Uniform” a great success in Italy and was reprinted several times.
