MediaDB / «Russian political emigration. From Kurbsky to Berezovsky" Alexey Yuryevich Shcherbakov: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2012 / There have been enough people in Russia who are dissatisfied with the authorities and fled to foreign lands in search of a better life since the time of Ivan the Terrible. These are former tsarist ambassadors and comrades-in-arms, who later became defectors, and representatives of the revolutionary elite and white emigration, and fascist collaborators, as well as dissidents of the Soviet era. As a rule, political emigrants left the country to fight the existing government from the outside. They did not lose ties with Russia because they expected to return. Moreover, not in order to hug birch trees and cross themselves at St. Isaac's Cathedral or St. Basil's Cathedral, they dreamed of returning victorious, on a white horse, to enjoy the sight of their defeated opponents. And this is precisely what explains their indiscriminateness in searching for comrades. To achieve their goals, they made deals with anyone, including outright enemies of Russia... A. Shcherbakov’s new book traces the thorny path of Russian political emigration from the 16th to the 20th centuries.
