About the book: year / Yuri Semenovich Belash was born in 1920. He started the war as a private, a mortar soldier, and ended as a lieutenant. Fate protected Yuri: he is one of the lucky few who lived from the medal “For the Defense of Moscow” to the medal “For the Capture of Berlin.” After the war, Yu.S. Belash graduated from the Literary Institute. He made his debut in 1950 as a reviewer in the Znamya magazine. He began writing poetry twenty years after the end of the war. He published two books: “Deafened Infantry” (1981), “Trench Ground” (1985). The book "Trench Poems" (1990) was published posthumously. Yu.S. Belash died in 1988, died alone, in his bachelor apartment on Lomonosovsky Prospekt, a “high-rise dugout,” clutching a nitroglycerin tablet in his hand. In the preface to “Trench Poems,” V. Kondratyev wrote: “Yura, like many who died in the war, has no grave. He bequeathed his ashes to be scattered from the Sparrow Hills over Moscow. Those who value his poetry and are close to him can go there and remember a real soldier and a real poet..."
