Starinov did not go through the Civil War in Spain alone - there was always a translator next to him, Anna Kornilovna Obrucheva. After returning from Spain, they got married and lived together for almost half a century. The book offered to the attention of readers is the first complete edition of the memoirs of Anna Kornilovna Starinova. The memoirs of this legendary woman cover the time period from November 1936 to April 1939. The author paints a vivid picture of what is happening, describing his impressions of meetings with Soviet military experts who fought in Spain, talking in detail about sabotage raids behind enemy lines and the training of Spanish partisans. The famous Russian historian and publicist Alexander Dyukov carried out the most difficult work preparing the text for publication, supplementing the book with a preface and detailed comments.
