About the book: year / "Kena Upanishad" (Sanskrit. ्,KenopaniṣadIAST) - Vedic text in Sanskrit, one of the eleven Upanishads of the Mukhya canon, to which the most ancient Upanishads commented by Shankara belong. The Kena Upanishad is associated with the Sama Veda and is in second place in the muktika canon of the 108 major Upanishads. The name of this Upanishad is derived from the word kena meaning "by whom". Since the Kena Upanishad belongs to the Talavakara Brahmana of the Sama Veda, it is also called the Talavakara Upanishad. The Kena Upanishad is divided into four kandas (sections), the first two of which are written in verse and the second two in prose. Shankara wrote one commentary on each of the Upanishads, but on the Kena Upanishad he wrote two. One of them is called “Kenopanishad-padabhashya”, and the other is “Kenopanishad-vakyabhashya”.
