About the book: 2005 / MiG-17 fighters replaced the MiG-15 fighters in the Soviet Air Force. The MiG-17 has earned a reputation as a highly maneuverable, reliable and easy-to-maintain fighter aircraft. The MiG-17 became one of the most exported military aircraft of its time; fighters of this type were in service with the air forces of Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and took part in many wars and armed conflicts. During the Vietnam War, MiG-17 fighters successfully operated against more modern American aircraft. The high maneuverability and powerful cannon armament of the MiGs made a huge impression on the Americans; many Yankees then managed to be surprised for the last time in their lives... On the eve of Vietnam, the cannon armament of a fighter aircraft was already considered an anachronism, but air battles in the skies of Indochina with the participation of the MiG-17 were again put on the agenda question about airborne small arms. 4th generation air combat aircraft were designed with cannon armament.
