About the book: year / The author of the book, the famous Soviet glaciologist I. A. Zotikov, has been researching the Antarctic ice sheet for more than twenty years. During this time, he worked as part of six Soviet and American Antarctic expeditions. For a joint study of ice samples obtained on the Ross Ice Shelf, where the author also worked, he was repeatedly invited to various scientific institutions in the United States.
