About the book: year / Anne began writing seriously in 1973, under the influence of a personal tragedy. Taking a previously written story, the woman developed it into a full-fledged novel, which she called “Interview with a Vampire.” The writer created the image of vampires as a special species based on the character of Gloria Holden in the film “Dracula’s Daughter.” Anne saw and described her heroes not as bloodthirsty killers, but as subtle and tragic characters. After Interview with the Vampire, 2 historical works were written - the novels “Cry to Heaven” and “The Feast of All Saints”. The writer also created the erotic tetralogy “The Sleeping Beauty”, and Anne published it under the male pseudonym A. N. Roquelor. Rice revealed the true authorship of the Sleeping Beauty novels only in the 1990s. In 1985, the writer returned to the “vampire” theme, releasing the book “The Vampire Lestat.” Unlike Interview with the Vampire, this novel received positive reviews from critics, and sold 75 thousand copies in its first edition. In 1988, “The Queen of the Damned” was published, the circulation of which was even higher - 405 thousand copies. This book took 1st place on the New York Times bestseller list and was in the lead for 4 months. The vampire series, having gained enormous success, was continued, and in 2016 the writer released the 13th book, the novel “Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis.” In parallel with this, Rice wrote the “Witches of Mayfair” trilogy, 2 novels about Jesus Christ and several books on various topics that are not part of the series. The most popular books in the writer’s biography were and remain the novels of the “vampire” series. Admirers of these books include many members of the LGBT community, who see a direct analogy between vampires and people of non-traditional sexual orientation. Rice explains that she did not initially put such meaning into the novels, but leaves to readers the right to the truth in the eye of the beholder. Anne's novels went beyond literary creativity and were repeatedly reworked in other genres of art. The first film adaptation was the film Interview with the Vampire, directed by Neil Jordan. The film starred first-rate stars Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, and young Kirsten Dunst made her debut in the role of the vampire girl Claudia. Contents:1.
