Russia - the Soviet Union in the “new” history is assigned the role of an insidious demon, guilty of all the troubles experienced by the Ukrainians and Ukraine, and worries about this have acquired a truly apocalyptic character. Ukraine is presented in an aura of martyrdom and sacrifice, its status as a leading Soviet republic and an integral part of the Soviet Union has turned into the status of a victim colony, and Soviet power is regarded as a colonial administration that served the interests of the “bloody” occupation regime and the Moscow elite.
