About the book: 2009 / Famous Serbian historian, S.M. Čirković dedicated his book to the history of the Serbian people. Of course, Serbian statehood and its historical vicissitudes (discussed in detail in the work) are inseparable from the ethnic history of the Serbs, but it is the latter that is primary. The author emphasizes that the origins of the formation of the Serbian national community go back to the 7th century, to the era of migration of Slavic tribes on the Balkan Peninsula, but he argues that the process of formation of the Serbian people did not end either in the 19th or 20th centuries. The dramatic events that followed the collapse of Yugoslavia only confirm the author’s point of view and add invaluable significance to his book, first published in 2004 in Serbian and English.
