About the book: 1972 / For most readers, Ilya Erenburg (1891–1967) is a novelist, publicist (especially military), essayist, author of articles on art. However, he felt himself, first of all, a poet, a lyrical poet, a civic poet. And he began his creative activity as a poet - in 1909, the first poem of nineteen-year-old Ehrenburg was published in the St. Petersburg magazine “Northern Dawns”. During the most significant periods of his life, he wrote poetry. This was the case in his youth and during the years of the struggle against fascism in Spain and France, and during the Great Patriotic War, and during the last creative takeoff. Readers have long fallen in love with Ehrenburg’s poetry. This book presents mainly those poems that the author himself selected for his nine-volume Collected Works.
