MediaDB / «Service elites of the Moscow state. Formation, status, integration. XV-XVI centuries.” Mikhail Bentsianov: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2021 / Formation of the Moscow State in the XIV-XV centuries. meant not only the unification of the lands of North-Eastern and then North-Western Rus' within the framework of one state entity, but also the consolidation of local elites under the rule of the “sovereigns of all Rus'”. This process was significantly extended over time, and its intensity was determined by the current tasks of foreign and domestic policy. The process of adaptation of “alien elements” into the service system had two important components: the ability and expediency from the point of view of the central government to fit them into the existing hierarchy and, on the other hand, the desire of such “elements” themselves to adapt to the current rules of the game. The focus of the study is on several significant groups: “princes” (descendants of local and traveling ruling dynasties), former appanage “vassals,” as well as foreigners arriving in Moscow (primarily immigrants from the neighboring Grand Duchy of Lithuania). A comprehensive study makes it possible to restore their role and significance in the political life of the 15th-16th centuries, shows the peculiarities of their status and the mechanisms of integration into the system of state service. The book is intended for historians and readers interested in the history of the development of Russian statehood. Publishing layout saved in PDF A4 format.
