He works as an assistant to the chairman of the regional executive committee and is an active participant in many of the most important events taking place in the region. The novel clearly describes the conflict between the first secretary of the regional party committee Bogorodov and the chairman of the regional executive committee Slavyanov, its consequences, and the personal life of the protagonist is reliably and truthfully shown. Nizhny Novgorod writer Valentin Kryuchkov is known to readers for the novel “At a Sharp Turning Point”, the story “If a Son is Born” and two stories of the same name “When you are not alone on the road”, in which, as in the author’s new work, the main character is Vladimir Filippov. The topic chosen by the writer in the new novel - the personal life and work of representatives of Soviet and party authorities - is well known to him. Member of the Union of Journalists Valentin Kryuchkov has a long work history. After graduating from the N.I. Lobachevsky State University and the Higher Party School, he worked for almost twenty years as an assistant to the chairmen of the regional executive committee - Semenov and Sokolov, and the Legislative Assembly - Krestyaninov and Kozeradsky. It was his work in the administrative apparatus, knowledge of all its intricacies that helped him convincingly depict the almost ten-year period of life of the city and region, create memorable images of leaders not only of the region, but also of the country as a whole. The author hopes that his new novel with its truthfulness, poignancy and reality shown the events in it will resonate with a wide range of readers.
