About the book: 1978 / The extraordinary satirical book “Hello, Country of Heroes,” written by Lev Larsky, is 30 years old, but it has not aged at all. Recently it was even republished in Israel in its entirety and again became a literary bestseller, spreading across all countries and continents. For many years, the story, popularly known as “The Fool,” was banned in the former Soviet Union. However, it is still perceived by some as undesirable: it is too truthful. The author of the book, a well-known Moscow graphic designer in the past, wrote about the real adventures and trials at the front of a young, terribly short-sighted, intelligent Jewish boy from a family of repressed Soviet intelligence officers and military leaders, who tricked his way to the front. This version of the story was published in the magazine “Time and We” (Nos. 29–33) in 1978.
