About the book: 2019 / Sir Terence David John Pratchett, better known as Terry Pratchett (1948–2015) is an English writer, whose total circulation of books today is more than 70 million copies. For his literary works, Pratchett was awarded the Order of the British Empire, and in 2009 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II of England. The most important advantage of Terry Pratchett is that he is not just witty, he is truly smart. Perhaps you can even call him a sage. But not sadly pompous - absolutely not! His wisdom is one that evokes sincere respect - at least among intellectually developed people. Pratchett can be called the Jonathan Swift of our time: his books appropriately combine a sincere smile (at times turning into hysterical laughter), deep insight into the secrets of the human soul and the ability to empathize. Pratchett is able to understand himself and show others what lurks in the heart of an ordinary person. In general, Terry is a damn talented and smart writer, whose books can easily be re-read several times. This doesn’t happen often in genre literature. The first volume of selected works opens with a satirical fantasy about the Discworld, which brought the author the greatest popularity.
