MediaDB / «Defense of the Hanko Peninsula" Alexander Chernyshev: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2011 / In the harsh autumn of the first year of the Great Patriotic War, when the armies of Nazi Germany managed to break through to Leningrad, when the battles were on the outskirts of Moscow, in deep behind enemy lines, on the distant borders of the Baltic, the garrison of the small Soviet naval base Hanko steadfastly and selflessly repulsed all enemy attacks for 164 days. The sailors, infantrymen and pilots of Red Gangut (as the Hanko peninsula was previously called) did not give up a single inch of their territory to the enemy; moreover, with daring landings they knocked out the Nazis from several islands that were of great tactical importance. The operation to evacuate the Hanko garrison, carried out from October 22 to December 3, became one of the large and complex, and most importantly, successful operations carried out in 1941 by the Red Banner Baltic Fleet (KBF).
