About the book: 2024 / A bookstore should be cozy and attractive, at least that’s how the new director of the Texts store, an American who recently moved to the UK, wants it to be . But this turns out to be quite difficult, since in his store, one of the whole network, something wrong is constantly going on. Firstly, the building is constantly hidden by thick fog. Every time the workers come in the morning, many books are lying on the floor, some are torn or soaked with some kind of moisture. Computers crash, and at night, even when turned off, they flicker with a strange gray light. Orders disappear. Instead of films, purchased videotapes contain shadows depicting ancient battles and sacrifices. When one of the saleswomen is killed by a car in the parking lot in front of the store, the director decides to take tough measures. An inspection is coming, and he leaves all the staff on night duty to go through the assortment and find out who is making a mess in the room. But strange creatures have already appeared on the screens of CCTV cameras, translucent, but leaving behind slimy traces. And the fog becomes more and more impenetrable, and danger and horror creep closer and closer.
