About the book: 1979 / The name of Mirmukhsin, a prominent Uzbek poet and prose writer, is widely known to the Russian reader. His poetry collections, stories, and novels were repeatedly published in Moscow: “Jamilya,” “Lightning in the Night,” “The Architect.” This book includes two works written recently: “Umid” and “Son of the Foundry Worker.” The novel “ Umid" tells the story of the fate of a young scientist at the Umid Breeding Research Institute, a man who makes mistakes, but manages to find the right path in life. For this book, Mirmukhsin was awarded the State Prize of Uzbekistan named after Hamza. “Son of a Foundry Worker” is a book about a glorious working dynasty. This novel received the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions Prize at the All-Union Competition of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions and the Union of Writers of the USSR for the best work of fiction about the modern working class (1978.).
