The memoirs of Count Alexei Grigorievich Orlov, recorded by his secretary, set out his own version of these events; in addition, it tells about many other deeds of the author of the memoirs - about the kidnapping of “Princess Tarakanova”, who claimed the Russian throne, about the war with the Turks in the Mediterranean, about the love stories of the count and his life in Moscow, the true owner of which he was at the turn of the 18th century. These records, presented in full for the first time in this book, are supplemented by the memoirs of another extraordinary person - Ivan Savvich Brykin, who lived for more than a hundred years (1706–1821), eighty of which he was the caretaker of the imperial residence near Moscow. His memoirs contain everyday details of the lives of 10 Russian emperors, from Peter I to Alexander I, whom Brykin had the opportunity to see.
