In this and another, later review, published in August in Literaturnaya Gazeta, Belinsky enters into the journal controversy surrounding the translation of Hamlet. The strongest retaliatory blows are being struck against O. I. Senkovsky, the author of a review of “Hamlet” in Kroneberg’s translation in the “Library for Reading”, and against N. A. Polevoy, whose translation of “Hamlet” Belinsky now severely criticizes.
