MediaDB / «Cycle "The Once and Future King". Compilation. Books 1-5" Terence White: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2021 / In 1938-1940, Terence White published three novels: “The Sword in the Stone”, “The Witch in the Wood” Wood) and "The Knight Who Has Committed a Misdemeanor". By 1942 he had completed the complete cycle, then called Pendragon, in five parts. Moreover, the first three of them were revised versions of previously published novels. But the publishers refused to publish the cycle in this form, and White (of his own free will, and not under outside pressure) globally reworked the works, turning the cycle into a full-fledged tetralogy, “The Once and Future King,” released in 1958. After White's death, the Book of Merlin was also published, which is a part of the original Pentateuch, although it is poorly combined with the texts of the tetralogy. At the moment, only the tetralogy + the fifth novel are published in the West (even if the title of the second volume is indicated earlier, the text is still in the 1958 edition). The first edition of The Sword in the Stone is sometimes also published, but separately and not as part of a series. Contents: The Once and Future King: 1.
