Contemporaries of the venerable Abba Dorotheos and John Climacus, they remain in all centuries a model of Christian asceticism. Having rejected the deceptive charms of the world for the sake of the true Truth - Christ and retreated into the lifeless, scorching heat of the desert, with their prayerful and fasting feats they turned it into a blooming paradise of virtues, replete with the fruits of incorruptible life. Their exploits were imitated by all subsequent generations of Christians; from them we must learn the highest science and the deepest wisdom - life in Christ.
