About the book: 2016 / Author of the book "Modern problems of canons and ecclesiology in the Russian Orthodox Church" prot. Pavel Adelgeim was one of the best experts on church law in the Russian Church. Since 2008, he has given a course of lectures on the problems of canons and ecclesiology at the St. Philaret Orthodox Christian Institute, devoted to complex issues of the application of canons in modern church life. The course touched upon the topics of the canonical status of the priest in the diocese, the role and responsibility of the laity in the church and their canonical status, the problems of implementing the decisions of the Local Council of 1917–1918, the activities of the church-wide court, etc. On August 5, 2013, Fr. Pavel was killed. The book was prepared for publication on the basis of archival materials transferred to the St. Philaret Institute for publication by Mother Vera Mikhailovna Adelgeim.
