    About the book: 2024 / Pyotr Sergeevich Botkin began his career in 1890 as a junior secretary of the Russian diplomatic mission in Washington under the leadership of K.V. Struve. After five years of service in the United States, he worked in Sofia, Lisbon, Brussels, London, Morocco, Portugal, and in 1914, his candidacy, then a chamberlain, actual state councilor, was considered for the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia. Botkin's memoirs are a story about the author's life: a happy childhood in the house of his father, a famous Russian doctor; about the first steps in the diplomatic service in Russia and about work in America. He describes the events of which he was an eyewitness or participant, about the delights and difficulties of the diplomatic service, about the people with whom he worked and met.
