About the book: 2013 / The genre of this novel could be defined as an ironic thriller if it did not touch upon serious social and universal themes. The young Swiss writer Urs Mannhart (b. 1975) did much the same as Nabokov once did: he took a light genre and gave it depth. It is no coincidence that “Lynx” has already been republished four times in its homeland and is even included in the school curriculum of several cantons. In the novel, the plot of which develops against the backdrop of an actual project to support Alpine lynxes, we become witnesses to the eternal confrontation between smart, deeply feeling people and aggressive, greedy to the profit of ignorance. “Lynx,” unlike many books and films “about freaks and people,” is also interesting because here, in the midst of this confrontation, a third active force inevitably appears - wild nature, which is under the close supervision of zoologists and encounters stupid rejection “ blockheads».
