About the book: 2007 / The book, against a broad musical and historical background, examines the aesthetics and philosophy of avant-garde (free) jazz, analyzes its form and content, features style and perception, social, aesthetic and ethnic sources of development. Using an interdisciplinary (primarily cultural) approach to the study of the basic elements of free jazz music, the author creates a conceptual theory of jazz evolution. A significant place in the book is devoted to consideration of the mechanism of improvisation in free jazz, systemic and semiotic analysis of its musical structure.
