About the book: year / In 1891, Heinze published his first historical novel “Malyuta Skuratov”. His next novel, “Arakcheev” (1893), he dedicated to the reign of Alexander I. The left-wing press could not forgive the writer that the traditionally hated A. A. Arakcheev, who went down in Russian history as a symbol: “a penny soldier devoted without flattery,” the creator of the military settlements,” he showed a passive figure, a monster, but unhappy. One after another, his following novels are published in huge editions: “The Prince of Taurida” (1895) - about Potemkin, “The Crowned Knight” (1895) - about Paul I, “Generalissimo Suvorov” (1896), “The First Russian Autocrat” - about the unifier of the earth The novels “The Judgment Days of Veliky Novgorod” (1897) and “Novgorod Volnitsa” (1895) - about the annexation of Novgorod to Moscow - are dedicated to the Russian Ivan III, the same era; the novel “Ermak Timofeevich” (1900) returned to the events of the reign of Ivan the Terrible. It would be a stretch to call them historical, conditionally, because of the names of the heroes and historical dates. As a historian, Heinze always resorted to compilation, as a novelist he filled his novels with unbridled fiction that had nothing to do with historical truth, just as an artist was nothing (by his own admission). During his relatively short life, he published more than forty novels and stories, published only in separate editions. Contents: 1. Nikolai Eduardovich Heinze: Arakcheev 2.
