MediaDB / «Fascism in England" Frederick Mallaly: download fb2, read online
About the book: 1947 / Frederick Mallaly's book talks about the past and present activities of fascist organizations in England. The Soviet reader will read it with interest, since until now the facts and events described by the author could only be found through brief newspaper reports. We learn that in England, which boasts of its “democratic freedoms,” the English fascists, long before the war, exactly followed German models. They carried out mass beatings of citizens who dared to object to their speakers, terrorized the population of the working-class districts of London and conducted unbridled frantic anti-Semitic propaganda, accompanied by pogroms on a small and large scale. The most important thing is that all this happened under the auspices of the English police and judicial authorities. The advantage of the book is that in support of the events narrated, the author cites a large number of documents, in particular letters and testimonies of witnesses (belonging to various strata of society) and victims of fascist revelry However, in Mallaly's book we do not find the entirety of the actual situation, and his theoretical and practical conclusions require a strictly critical attitude. F. Mallaly is assistant editor of the Labor Tribune magazine. The position of this magazine is vague and unstable: it considers itself to be on the left wing of the Labor Party, but in reality it often takes a very right-wing position. The same can be said about Mallaly's own views on the events he recounts. While exposing the activities of English fascism and calling for a fight against it, the author is silent about the most basic thing - its reactionary class essence. Mallali’s book does not contain an exact definition of fascism... The book is preceded by a voluminous, interesting introductory article by D. Zaslavsky. Spelling of the original 1947 edition.
