About the book: 1980 / Joseph Conrad (Józef Theodor Konrad Korzeniowski) was born in Ukraine, in Berdichev, in 1857. Studied in Krakow and Lviv. In 1874 he went to Marseille and sailed as a cabin boy on French ships. From 1880 he became a sailor and then a captain in the English merchant fleet. In 1884 he became a British subject. His first novel, “Olmeyer’s Caprice,” which received the approval of J. Galsworthy, was published in 1895. After its release, Conrad settled in Kent and became fully engaged in literary activities. Joseph Conrad died on August 3, 1924.
