About the book: 2004 / In the book of an employee of the Nizhny Novgorod archival service B.M. Pudalov, candidate of philological sciences and specialist in ancient Russian manuscripts, examines various aspects of the history of the Russian lands of the Middle Volga region in the second third of the 13th - first third of the 14th centuries. The author, based on a comparative textual analysis of messages from ancient Russian chronicles and taking into account the results of archaeological research, reconstructs the events of the political history of the Gorodets-Nizhny Novgorod region, draws conclusions about the administrative status and management system of the region, and also considers the controversial problems of the genealogy of the Suzdal princely house, which owned the Nizhny Novgorod principality in the 14th century c. The book is addressed to researchers, teachers, archivists, students of history and philology, as well as everyone interested in the medieval history of Russia and the Nizhny Novgorod region. The publication was released on the 85th anniversary of the Nizhny Novgorod Archive Service.
