About the book: year / The series "Little Stories" was published in 1946 in the book "Fables and Little Stories", prepared for publication by Miroslav Galik ( Publishing house of Frantisek Borovoy). The book was based on the folder with the above title, which contained newspaper clippings and manuscripts. This folder was found in the writer’s personal archive. It is easy to notice that in these miniature stories Capek raises many serious, pressing issues that worried the Czech public in the second half of the 30s, on the eve of the fascist occupation of Czechoslovakia. Miroslav Galik supplemented the materials in the Capek archive with works of the same experimental genre published in periodicals. The stories in the series were published in the newspaper Lidove Noviny from 1928 to 1938.
