About the book: 1974 / Viktor Lavrentyev is a famous Soviet playwright, whose plays have been performed in theaters in our country and abroad for many years. This book reflects different periods his creativity and different facets of his talent. The book opens with one of V. Lavrentiev’s early works - the chronicle play “Kryazhevy”. Talking about the life of one family, from 1905 until the emergence of the world's first socialist state, the writer creates a broad panorama of the life of our country in these turbulent years of its history. But no matter what V. Lavrentyev wrote about in his subsequent plays: about the life of a collective farm village in the 50s and 60s (“Ivan Budantsev”, “Somewhere very close”, “For the sake of their neighbors”), about the courageous work of geologists -prospectors during the Great Patriotic War (“Svetlaya”), about scientists at the beginning of the atomic era (“Man and the Globe”)—he always raises in his works the most pressing and pressing problems of our reality. In some of Lavrentiev’s plays, questions occupy a central place moral and ethical character (“Honor your father”, etc..).
