About the book: year / Author of research on traditional and modern yoga, teaches at St. John's College, Santa Fe, USA. Under the supervision of Elizabeth De Michelis, author of A History of Modern Yoga, he defended his dissertation for the title of Doctor of Philosophy at the Faculty of Divinity at Cambridge. His work, The Yoga Body: The Origins of Modern Postural Practices, includes a study of postural practices from 1875 to 1940. Mark Singleton has been practicing yoga himself for many years, and this book presents not only a conceptually new historical method for studying the origins of postural yoga, but also the practitioner’s own phenomenological experience.
