Still others are about heroic knights and ferocious monsters. I was fortunate enough to find myself in a place where a fairy tale had long ago become reality. An idiot’s dream came true! True, there are several problems. Some princesses are not very beautiful - that's one thing, wizards are never kind - that's two. Well, they assigned me to the role of the monster - that’s three. But do you have to live? Get a job, do repairs, treat teeth... Did you think monsters’ teeth can’t be treated? Or are there no dentists in fairy tales? There are, but of course. And their prices are fabulous too! From the author: One day my daughters asked me to tell a fairy tale. Well, like a horror story, but not scary. About whom? About Babayka. “Okay,” I thought. And he began to compose on the fly, cramming motifs from famous literary and cinematic works into the story. The result was something unexpected: a kind of cyberpunk-post-apocalyptic surroundings, with numerous and so beloved allusions, reminiscences and homages to our familiar culture. Elves, gnomes and orcs live side by side with people, sit on smartphones, drink coffee, do business, punch each other in the face and fall in love. Magic coexists with advanced technology, cyborgs coexist with goblins, chthonic monsters coexist with ordinary racketeers and gopniks. And I thought: I need to write! But you understand - a fairy tale for two girls aged three and seven is one thing, but entertaining reading for you and me is somewhat different!
