About the book: 2009 / Etgar Keret. “When the Buses Died” Stories Translation from Hebrew by Linor Goralik Etgar Keret (b. 1967) is an Israeli writer, journalist and screenwriter. In addition to literature classes, he teaches at the University. Ben Gurion in Beer Sheva, as well as at Tel Aviv and Haifa universities. He published his first collection of short stories (“Trumpets”) in 1992. Since then, Keret’s works have been published as separate books, as well as published in leading literary periodicals in Israel, and translated into dozens of languages. In collaboration with his wife, actress and writer Shira Gefen, Keret wrote two children's books ("Daddy Runs Away with the Circus", 2004, and "Zohar and the Month", 2007), he wrote scripts for the satirical television show "Chamber Quintet" and a number of television films Etgar Keret is the recipient of the Israeli Prime Minister's Prize and other prestigious literary awards, as well as awards for screenwriting and film direction, including the Cannes Film Festival's Golden Camera (2007) for the film Jellyfish. Lives in Tel Aviv with his wife and son.
