About the book: 1995 / The history of the USSR’s entry into the Second World War continues to be a “sore” topic for Russia. A striking example of this is the commercial success of the extremely biased book by V. Suvorov (Rezun) “Icebreaker”. One of Suvorov’s main opponents since the mid-80s is the author of this book, the famous historian Professor G. Gorodetsky, director of the Cummings Center for the Study of Russia and Eastern Europe at Tel Aviv University. Polemicizing with Suvorov, Gorodetsky uses vast factual material to prove the inconsistency and provocativeness of Suvorov’s versions.
