About the book: year / "Faryatiev's Fantasies" is the third play by Alla Sokolova. Perhaps this is her only work about which she constantly and invariably hears one and same review: “She changed my destiny. It’s as if life was torn into two parts: before it and after it.” To the question: “What do you think this is connected with?” - the author always answers: “With love.” For the first time, “Faryatyev’s Fantasies” was staged at the BDT by Sergei Yursky in 1976. He was also the leading actor. Svetlana Kryuchkova made her debut in the role of Lyuba. The author considers this performance to be the best she has ever seen. Ilya Averbakh made a two-part television film based on this play. It took place in almost all the theaters of the country and was widely shown abroad, thereby opening the way for both the previous and subsequent works of the author. This story happened in provincial Ochakovo - with an elderly mother and her two adult daughters. The eldest, Shurochka, works as a teacher at a music school. She is hopelessly in love, it’s time for her to get married, but she won’t marry someone she doesn’t love, and her beloved doesn’t invite her... The youngest, Lyuba, is still in school, but she approaches issues of love more pragmatically than her sister. “I’m getting married,” she says, “so as not to be left to rot in this Ochakov.” And suddenly an ugly young man Pavlik Faryatiev bursts into their lives and literally turns their lives upside down. He met Shurochka at the name day of Bedkhudov, her lover, fell in love with her and is now asking for her hand in marriage. There is commotion in the house - after all, Shurochka is not proposed to every day. Meanwhile, Shurochka’s younger sister, Lyuba, falls in love with Pavlik... A psychological melodrama based on the play by A. Sokolova about how loved ones love and try to make each other happy…
