About the book: 1873 / The name of the American journalist and traveler Henry Morton Stanley was on the pages of newspapers and magazines around the world for more than 20 years in the last quarter of the 19th century. The brave traveler made several expeditions across Africa and penetrated into areas of the continent where no European had ever set foot. The explorer's expeditions constituted an entire era in the history of the conquest of Africa and culminated in major geographical discoveries. In this book, Stanley describes the journey that he made to Central Africa in 1871-72 in search of the Scottish missionary David Livingstone. Setting out from Zanzibar, accompanied by a detachment of natives, Stanley found Livingstone on Lake Tanganika. Then, together with Livingston, they made a trip along the northern shore of this lake.
