About the book: year / The novel “The President’s Last Trump” is the second book about the vicissitudes of the secret investigation that befell FSB Colonel Kantemir Kaledin. The main character of the novel, on official business and on the personal instructions of the President, secretly investigates a series of mysterious crimes that involve people with wealth and power. Returning to Moscow after Chechen captivity, Kaledin receives the task of searching for a powerful criminal who has settled in the upper echelons of power and is hiding under a pseudonym Tanenbaum. During the investigation, Kaledin realizes that all his plans to search for and suppress Tanenbaum’s activities are known to the criminal, so he decides to fake his death, escape from under secret control, and only then continue the investigation. However, these plans were not destined to come true completely: The subway car in which Kaledin was traveling was blown up by suicide bombers, and FSB officer Kaledin was removed from the list of the living against his will. However, fate protected the President’s favorite and, having recovered from his injuries, Kantemir secretly continues his investigation, but only under a false name and no longer as an FSB officer. In order to break into the upper echelons of power and not arouse suspicion, Kaledin is forced to look for workarounds and use non-standard investigation methods. As a reward for his dedication, luck accompanies the young colonel, because it is not for nothing that his colleagues call him nothing less than “The President’s Last Trump».
