About the book: 2021 / Alastair Preston Reynolds (b. 1966) is a native of Barry, South Wales, and grew up in Cornwall. He received his education (physics and astronomy) in Newcastle, and his academic degree in Scotland. He lived in Holland for a long time and worked for the European Space Agency. In 2004, he left his job and focused on his writing career. In 2008 he returned to Wales and now lives near Cardiff. Reynolds belongs to the galaxy of British science fiction writers who made their presence known in the 1990s, and he is more inclined than others to hard science fiction. The writer's short fiction was published mainly in Interzone and Spectrum SF, a Scottish science fiction magazine. The author actively publishes comments on his stories on the Internet. Reynolds' first novel, Revelation Space, was published in 2000, followed by Chasm City (2001), Redemption Ark (2002), and Absolution Gap" (2003), "Century Rain" (2004), "Pushing Ice" (2005), "The Prefect" (2007), "House of Suns" (2008). The term “hard science fiction” doesn’t sit well with the writer, but since it’s caught on, Reynolds says it’s something he can live with.
