About the book: 2019 / New book by K. K. Semenov “Russian army in a foreign land. The drama of military emigration 1920–1945.” tells about the tragic story of our compatriots who went into forced exile after the Civil War in Russia. Using numerous archival documents, the author shows the history of Russian soldiers and officers who found themselves in exile in the 1920s. The focus is on both various military organizations in Europe and individual personalities of the Russian diaspora. Along with describing the daily life of military emigration, the author examines various structural transformations in its environment, explores participation in local European military conflicts and the Second World War. The publication is timed to coincide with the 95th anniversary of the creation of the largest military organization of the Russian diaspora - the Russian All-Military Union (ROVS ).The monograph was prepared on the basis of documents from the State Archive of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Military Archive, the Archive of the State Budgetary Institution of Culture of Moscow “House of Russian Abroad named after. A. Solzhenitsyn”, periodicals of Russian diaspora and other sources.
