About the book: 2010 / After the catastrophic losses of 1941, when the Red Army lost its former superiority in armored vehicles, the command of the Red Army had to make a bet for cavalry, increasing the number of cavalry divisions seven times. But, no matter what anti-Soviet propaganda lies, the red cavalry never went with sabers drawn in suicidal attacks on tanks - the cavalry corps of the Great Patriotic War had heavy weapons and firepower incomparable with the cavalry armies of the Civil War. Thus, the author of this book was the commander of a mortar battery of the 37th Guards Don Cossack Regiment, which fought thousands of kilometers from the Caucasus to the Austrian Alps. These memoirs completely refute the popular belief that cavalry was supposedly “hopelessly outdated” even before the outbreak of World War II, paying tribute to the Soviet Cossacks who watered horses from the Oder, Danube, Spree and Elbe.
