A practicing surgeon, a participant in the tragic Crimean War, the founder of the Russian school of military field surgery, a professor, a rebel, this is probably how few words can describe Pirogov’s life path. The great surgeon, who never tired of learning, looking for new things, would have entered with pride for his descendants today's laboratory or operating room.
